The most common worry about an online consultation is the bit at the end: if the doctor is on a screen, how does anything reach you? The answer is that it does not reach you at all. It reaches a pharmacy, and you walk in and collect it, the same as any prescription written in a surgery.
There is no paper, and there is no parcel
Slovakia and Czechia both run national electronic prescription systems. A doctor writes the prescription into the national system, where it is held against your identity. Nothing is handed over, posted, couriered or emailed.
This matters for more than convenience. Because the prescription lives in the national record rather than on a piece of paper, any pharmacy in the country can see it, and neither we nor anyone else can intercept, alter or resell it.
Video consultation
Your doctor decides whether anything is prescribed.
Into the national system
Written into ePredpis (Slovakia) or eRecept (Czechia) and linked to you.
You choose a pharmacy
Any pharmacy in your country. Nothing is posted to you.
Dispensed at the counter
You identify yourself and the pharmacist dispenses.
a.clinic never holds, ships or sells medication.
In Slovakia
The system is ePredpis, part of the national eZdravie infrastructure. Your doctor writes the prescription and it is linked to you. At the pharmacy you identify yourself (normally with your health insurance card) and the pharmacist retrieves it and dispenses.
In Czechia
The system is eRecept, run by SÚKL, the State Institute for Drug Control. You are sent an identifier for the prescription, and you give that to the pharmacy, or identify yourself. Many people use the Czech eRecept patient app to see their own prescriptions.
| Slovakia | Czechia | |
|---|---|---|
| System | ePredpis, part of eZdravie | eRecept, run by SÚKL |
| At the pharmacy | Identify yourself, normally with your health insurance card | Give the prescription identifier, or identify yourself |
| Which pharmacy | Any pharmacy in Slovakia | Any pharmacy in Czechia |
You choose the pharmacy
Any pharmacy in your country. We do not direct you to one, we have no arrangement with any of them, and we take nothing from what you spend there. If one pharmacy does not have something in stock, another one may.
a.clinic never supplies, ships, sells or holds medicines, and never takes a margin on them. We are not a pharmacy and we are not a distributor. Your doctor prescribes; your pharmacy dispenses.
What you pay, and to whom
Two separate things. You pay us for the consultation, at the price shown before you book. You pay your pharmacy for anything dispensed, at your pharmacy's price. What is or is not covered by insurance is a matter between you, your pharmacy and your insurer.
| The consultation | Anything dispensed | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid to | a.clinic | Your pharmacy |
| The price | Shown before you book | Set by your pharmacy |
| If nothing is prescribed | You have paid for a doctor's time and judgement | Nothing to pay |
If nothing is prescribed
Then there is no prescription, and that is a legitimate outcome of a medical appointment. You are paying for a doctor's time and judgement, not for a guaranteed product. Any service that guarantees you the product has told you something about itself.
