How online weight care with a doctor actually works

Most people who look into medical weight care give up somewhere in the first ten minutes, and it is almost never because they changed their mind. It is because nobody explains what the process is. You are asked to book something without being told what you are booking, or to pay before you know whether anyone can help you. So here is the whole thing, in order.

The whole process, in order
  1. You answer a health questionnaire

    under 10 min

Your history, medicines and measurements, read by the doctor before you speak.

  2. You book a consultation

    20 min

By video. No travel, no waiting room, no morning off work.

  3. A licensed doctor decides

Including the decision that treatment is not appropriate, or that something else comes first.

  4. You collect any prescription locally

It goes into the national e-prescription system, and you choose the pharmacy.

  5. You are followed up

    about 5 min

Short check-ins with the same doctor, when your doctor sets them.

1. You answer a health questionnaire

Before anyone can help you, a doctor needs your medical history: what conditions you have, what medicines you take, what has been tried before, and the basic measurements any clinician would ask for in a room. That is what the questionnaire collects. It takes most people under ten minutes.

The questionnaire does not decide anything. It does not tell you whether you qualify, and it does not suggest a treatment. It exists so that the doctor you speak to has already read your history before the consultation starts, instead of spending the first third of your appointment taking it down.

2. You book a consultation

A first consultation is twenty minutes. Later refill consultations take about five minutes, because the first is the one where a doctor takes a full history and works out whether they can help you at all. That is not a ten-minute conversation.

The appointment is by video. You do not travel, you do not sit in a waiting room, and you do not need to take a whole morning off work.

The questionnaire collects. The doctor decides.

3. A licensed doctor decides

This is the part worth being precise about. The doctor is the provider. They are licensed in your country, they make every clinical decision, and they are free to decide that treatment is not appropriate for you, or that something else should be investigated first. That is a real outcome and it happens.

a.clinic does not prescribe, recommend, or supply anything. We are the technology the consultation runs on. Every clinical decision is made by your doctor.

Who does what
  • a.clinic

The questionnaire, the booking and the video call. The technology, never the decision.

  • Your doctor

The healthcare provider. Takes your history, makes every clinical decision and writes any prescription.

  • Your pharmacy

Dispenses anything prescribed, at its own price. Which one is up to you.

4. If you are prescribed something, you collect it locally

Where a doctor does prescribe, the prescription goes into your country's national e-prescription system, and you collect it from a pharmacy you choose. Nothing is posted to you and nothing is sold to you here. Your pharmacy dispenses it exactly as it would if the prescription had been written across a desk.

5. You are followed up

Weight care is not a single appointment. Your doctor sets when they want to see you next, and later consultations are shorter and cheaper because they are check-ins rather than full assessments. You keep the same doctor.

What it costs

The consultation is what you pay for, and the price is shown before you commit to anything. Medication, if any is prescribed, is bought from your pharmacy at your pharmacy's price. We never add a margin to it, because we never handle it.

Who this is not for

If you want a prescription without speaking to a doctor, this is the wrong service, and honestly so is any service that offers you that. If you are looking for a same-day answer, a consultation has to be booked and a doctor has to have time. And if your situation needs an in-person examination, the doctor will tell you so.

Can a doctor prescribe weight-loss treatment online?
Yes. A consultation by video is a consultation: a doctor licensed in your country takes your history, examines what can be examined remotely, and decides. What they may prescribe, and to whom, is governed by exactly the same rules as it would be in a room. Nothing about being online lowers the bar, and any service suggesting it does is telling you something untrue.
Who can prescribe treatment for obesity in Slovakia and Czechia?
A licensed physician. Which specialties may prescribe which medicines is set nationally and changes from time to time, so the honest answer is that your doctor knows the current position for your country and will tell you where you stand. It is not something a website should be answering on their behalf.
How much does it cost?
You pay for the consultation, and the price is shown before you commit to anything. If a doctor prescribes something, you buy it at your own pharmacy at your pharmacy's price. We never handle medication and never add a margin to it.
Do I have to travel anywhere?
No. The consultation is by video, and if you are prescribed something it goes into your country's national e-prescription system, so you collect it at whichever pharmacy you already use.
What if the doctor says no?
That is a real outcome and it happens. A doctor may decide treatment is not appropriate for you, or that something else should be looked at first. You will be told why. It is the reason the consultation is with a doctor rather than a form.
