A doctor deciding about treatment without seeing your numbers is not deciding responsibly. Here is what you will need, and why.
Body composition (InBody)
- Muscle mass
- Fat
- Water
Blood work, among other things
- Blood sugar
- Kidney markers
- Liver markers
- Thyroid function
If your doctor needs anything else, they will tell you.
A body composition scan (InBody)
A measurement that separates muscle, fat and water. It tells you something neither your weight nor your BMI can: two people showing the same number on the scale can have entirely different bodies and entirely different risk.
Many gyms, nutrition clinics and some medical practices do them. It takes a few minutes. You get a printout or a PDF. Photograph it or upload it as it is.
Blood work
Your doctor needs a current picture of your metabolism, among other things blood sugar, kidney and liver markers, and thyroid function. These are standard tests that a laboratory or your GP can do.
"Current" means months, not years. Results from three years ago do not describe where you are now.
Why it has to be beforehand
Because part of the decision is precisely whether anything in those results argues against treatment, or points at another problem that should be addressed first. If your doctor sees them for the first time during the call, you either lose half the consultation waiting or the decision gets postponed.
If you do not have them
Arrange them before you book. A consultation without them is usually a wasted appointment, which is worse than waiting another week.
Have the tests done
At a gym, nutrition clinic or laboratory, or with your GP.
Upload the results
To your account, as a PDF or a photograph. Documents are encrypted.
Book the consultation
With your results already in your account.
Your doctor reads them first
20 minSo the twenty minutes go on the decision, not on waiting.
a.clinic is a technology platform. Healthcare is provided by a licensed doctor, who decides whether any treatment is appropriate for you. We do not decide about specific medicines and do not write about them.
- Where can I have an InBody scan done?
- Many gyms, nutrition clinics and some medical practices offer them. It is not our service and you do not pay us for it.
- How old can the blood work be?
- Months rather than years. If yours is more than six months old, expect your doctor to want something more recent.
- Do I need both, or is one enough?
- Your doctor needs both. Body composition and blood chemistry describe different things, and neither substitutes for the other.
- How do I upload the results?
- From your account, as a PDF or a photograph. Documents are encrypted, and your doctor can see them.

The questionnaire takes under ten minutes, and a licensed doctor reviews it before you speak.
