You should know the price before you fill in a questionnaire and spend your time. Here is the whole number up front, including the part you do not pay to us.
There are two separate payments
The first is for the doctor's care: the consultation, the assessment of your health, and the follow-up afterwards. The second is for medication, if a doctor prescribes any, and you pay that at a pharmacy, not to us. We never handle medication and never add a margin to it, because it never passes through our hands.
When you see a single price described as covering "treatment", it is worth asking what is inside it. If medication is inside it, somebody is selling you a medicine, and selling a medicine is a different relationship from a doctor caring for you.
What the care costs here
A first consultation is twenty minutes and costs €79, which includes your first month of care. After that it is €29 a month, covering a short review consultation with your doctor each month. Any change to your treatment is your doctor's decision. You can cancel at any time.
The price is the same whichever way the consultation goes. Your doctor is paid the same whether they prescribe or not. That is deliberate, because it is the only arrangement in which you can be confident their decision is a clinical one.

Consultations and care only, if you keep the monthly care that long: the first payment plus the monthly price. Medication and tests are not included, and you can cancel at any time.
What the medication costs
That depends on what, if anything, is prescribed, and on the pharmacy. Your pharmacist tells you when they dispense it, and you can compare pharmacies, since the prescription is valid at any of them in your country. We do not name specific medicines here and may not: what is appropriate for you is decided by a doctor during a consultation.
Your insurer will not cover this care
This is the part worth knowing early rather than late. Health insurers do not cover the consultation and ongoing care through a.clinic, and as a rule they do not reimburse medicines for treating obesity in Slovakia or Czechia. So you usually pay both in full.
It does not mean anything is wrong with your prescription or your doctor. It is simply how reimbursement is set in both countries.
| Consultation and care | Medication | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid to | a.clinic | Your pharmacy |
| The price | Shown before you pay | Your pharmacy's price |
| Reimbursed by health insurers | No | No |
What else you will need
Before the consultation your doctor needs a body composition scan (InBody) and recent blood work. If you do not have them, many gyms and laboratories do them for a modest fee. They are not our services and you do not pay us for them. But without them a doctor cannot judge whether treatment is safe for you, so allow for them.
a.clinic is a technology platform. Healthcare is provided by a licensed doctor, who decides whether any treatment is appropriate for you. We do not decide about specific medicines and do not write about them.
- How much is the first consultation?
- €79 for twenty minutes, which includes your first month of care. After that it is €29 a month, and you can cancel at any time.
- Is medication included in the price?
- No. If a doctor prescribes something, you buy it at a pharmacy at the pharmacy's price. We never handle medication and add nothing to it.
- Will my insurer reimburse obesity treatment?
- No. The consultation through a.clinic is not covered, and medicines for treating obesity are as a rule not reimbursed in Slovakia or Czechia.
- What if the doctor prescribes nothing? Do I get a refund?
- You are paying for a doctor's time and judgement, not for a guaranteed prescription. If treatment is not appropriate for you, the doctor explains why and what to address instead. That is a legitimate outcome of a medical assessment.
- Are there hidden fees?
- No. The price is shown before you pay, the monthly amount renews automatically until you cancel it, and you cancel from your account. Tests you have done elsewhere, and medication from a pharmacy, are costs outside us.
